Why are restoration visits reserved for internal use?

Turbo Handbook says:

Restoration visits have an action of restore and Turbo Drive reserves them for internal use. You should not attempt to annotate links or invoke Turbo.visit with an action of restore .

I’m wondering if anyone knows why. From reading through the code, it looks like it is possible to do both of the things described.

My use case is I have a native app (using turbo-ios) that is backed by a UINavigationController, but doesn’t have a visible navbar. So there’s no native “back” button. I want to have a HTML “back” button in the UI, and I want it to behave like a real back button (in this case, to call popViewController).

This code seems to work, despite the warnings:

But before shipping it I want to know I’m shooting future me in the foot.
